City of Fall River COVID-19 Task Force issues guidelines for residents

(Fall River, MA- March 13, 2020)- At this time, the City of Fall River’s COVID-19 Task Force has made a number of decisions that support Governor Baker’s State of Emergency Guidelines, as well as Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations. The Fall River COVID-19 Task Force includes representatives from the Administration, Health Department, Police, Fire, and EMS, Fall River Public Schools, Human Resources, and Department of Public Works.

At this time the City of Fall River has made the following decisions:

-All City sponsored events, or city approved event permits that will have an estimated crowd size of over 100 participants will be postponed 
-The city will not be issuing any event permits for at least 30 days
-Library events will be cancelled beginning on Monday, March 16th
-Senior Center activities have been cancelled for at least the next 30 days
-Senior medical and grocery rides have been suspended until April 3
-Fall River Public Schools will be issuing separate guidance to parents, faculty, and staff

The Task Force continues to encourage residents to do the following: 

-If you have City bills, please pay online, by mail, over the phone. Residents can also utilize one of our two drop box locations at Government Center (First floor lobby or on exterior of building on Third Street)
-Practice social distancing. This means keeping 6 feet from another individual
-Stay home when you are sick
-Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water is not available use an alcohol based hand sanitizer
-Cough or sneeze into a tissue and dispose of tissue
-Clean frequently touched surfaces on a daily basis

According to a release, Task Force members are in constant communication with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, local hospitals, and other organizations throughout the community.
