Christmas Tree Shops announces last day remaining stores will close

Going Out of Business sales began across all remaining Christmas Tree Shops store locations nationwide last month, including those in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Florida and Pennsylvania. The discount store chain has announced the day remaining stores will close.

Avon, Foxboro, Holyoke, Hyannis, Lynnfield, North Attleboro, Shrewsbury, and Somerville locations in Massachusetts and the Middletown store in Rhode Island will close on August 12th in addition to remaining stores in other states.

CTS announced this month that they reached an agreement to liquidate all of their stores after failing to pay off bankruptcy loans.

The company handling the liquidation has stated that customers can take advantage of discounts up to 90 percent off the lowest ticketed prices throughout the store. We received some complaints at the beginning of the liquidation that some of the new prices were actually higher than the previous sticker price.

Select fixtures, furnishings and equipment will also be available for sale. All sales are final during this store closing event.

It was announced previously that the store’s gift card program ended on July 21.

The company filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy and announced in May an initial closure of 10 stores.

The company changed hands multiple times as of late. In 2003, Bed Bath & Beyond purchased the company for $200 million. Handhil Holdings LLC then purchased CTS in 2020 for an undisclosed amount of money.

CTS was founded in 1970 on Cape Cod in Massachusetts and has been known for selling toys, food, furnishings, and Christmas decorations at bargain prices.

There is a reason why CTS has been all over every news station the last month. It isn’t because people don’t care.

The store sells junk made in slave factories in China. The original Christmas Tree Shops were relevant when they sold unique goods. The retail industry has fallen victim to slowed down demand cycles which has created tinier product pools of off season or overstocked goods. Now low end retailers are struggling to find products to fill their shelves while trying to maintain the huge profit margins it takes to operate a retail company in America. So who cares about Chinese junk? I want quality made products that are not made in Chinese Communist Party run slave plantations. How can any corporation being it the producer, the distributor or the retailer compete against Chinese slave wages? Right now I feel that most Americans are confused or flat out do not care what’s happening in the world around us. Yeah I’m busy too, but at keast I’m conscious enough to understand that we are being set up for the “Great Reset” which at least Trump was trying to slow down. If anyone cared about the Christmas Tree Shops closing, you’d have more than just my comment. Buy hey I love Fall River Reporter for allowing me this engagement.

The merchandise quality has gone down over the last 10 years. And the last 5 years prices went up. The last blow was how they raised ALL there close out prices then gave a 10% discount and increased discount but also increased price. Has not been at all like it use to be. None of the merchandise was the same especially buying from China
