Cause determined in Monday morning Brayton Point fire

The cause has been determined in a Monday morning Brayton Point fire.

The fire which could be seen across the area with dark black smoke, occurred at approximately 10:00 a.m. and was caused by sparks from a welding torch according to WJAR 10 News.

Welding sparks from work being done to take apart a coal unloader set fire to some tires at the Somerset facility.

Nobody was injured.

The cooling towers at Brayton Point are scheduled to be imploded on April 27th.
