Massachusetts police warn of scheme being used to steal packages being delivered to homes

Porch pirates are nothing new in Massachusetts, however, their tactics have changed to become a little more sophisticated.

The Westminster Police Department recently took reports of thefts of delivered packages from FedEx and Amazon. These reports are very similar with a typically high-valued package being delivered and within minutes of the delivery, a suspect is seen approaching the house carrying a box or a bag and will either take the package or trade an empty box for an item that was delivered.

Suspects have been wearing counterfeit Amazon vests.

If you are planning to receive a package of a high-valued item, police recommend trying to make it so that the delivery is directly exchanged or schedule deliveries when you are home.

    1. Because that is the only picture we had of a recent alleged package theft in the area. We don’t have a rolodex of photos of recent package thefts.

  1. Kinda funny how it’s always a HIGH VALUE item how do they know what’s being g delivered sounds like an inside job to me Like some of the Amazon drivers are in on the scheme otherwise they wouldn’t know it’s a high value item
