Cape Verdean restaurant finally given go ahead to open in Fall River

The owner of a Brockton family restaurant will soon be branching out with a second location in Fall River.

Manuel DaSilva is set to open Corner Stone Lounge, a new Cape Verdean restaurant at 222-226 East Main Street with a beautiful large painting of Battleship Cove as a backdrop.

DaSilva currently owns Preto’s Island Cuisine Restaurant at 250 Main Street in Brockton which features Cape Verdean, Caribbean & American dishes with a unique flair.

To give you an idea of what Corner Stone’s will offer, for appetizers, Preto’s features shrimp fritters, fried chicken wings, shish kabob, pig ear, sautéed shrimp, octopus, lobster tail, sweet potato/eggs, and liver.

For entrees, options include tuna, lobster, variations of shrimp (including Mozambique), octopus, salmon, steak, grilled chicken, pork chops, and cod fish.

The Brockton location also has music and entertainment, something DaSilva is hoping to eventually bring to Fall River.

With concerns over parking keeping Corner Stone from opening that Fall River Reporter has documented, DaSilva went back in front of the Licensing Board on Friday morning to have the stipulation that mandated he have the lot across the street for parking be removed. The parking condition had been added previously due to neighborhood complaints. The Board, however, decided Friday to let Corner Stone open without the additional parking lot.

Hours of operation are set for Tuesday-Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Friday/Saturday 9:00 a.m. 11:30 p.m. and Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. but alcohol not to be served until 10:00 a.m.

An exact opening date was not released, however, the eatery should be in business very soon.

Cause this is exactly what fall river needs. Another Cape Verdean hole in the wall that will be closed in a year.

Remember we are in the Country of opportunity. That goes for all race. Whenever someone is trying to build something good for the community let’s support it. Too much bad things in the world today. Let’s go Cape Verdean entrepreneurs well done. And like I said all other races as well. Let’s bring culture to our communities
