Bristol County man pleads guilty for role in murder and robbery of 17-year-old Brandin Guerrero

A Bristol County man wanted in a murder that was captured by police in southern Massachusetts has pleaded guilty.

42-year-old Jorge Luis Pagan Sanchez pleaded guilty to felony murder and robbery Wednesday, according to Bangor Daily News.

In December of 2021, Dave Procopio of the Massachusetts State Police stated the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section and the State Police Detective Unit for Bristol County, along with partner agencies, assisted the Maine State Police in tracking and arresting two of four suspects wanted for the shooting homicide of 17-year-old Brandin Guerrero of Massapequa, New York in Machias, Maine. The investigation by Maine State Police identified Pagan Sanchez of Taunton, Nathanael Genao of New Bedford, Emanuel Ramos of Roxbury, and Juan Ortiz of Concord, New Hampshire, as being involved in the November 4th murder.

As the investigation into the Machias homicide progressed, Maine investigators identified Pagan Sanchez as a suspect. MSP VFAS Troopers, along with Troopers from the State Police-Middleborough Barracks, Maine State Police Major Crimes Detectives, Taunton Police Officers, and Massachusetts Parole Officers checked several locations in Taunton for Pagan Sanchez. One address visited by members of the arrest team was an apartment on Tremont Street in Taunton. After being denied entry into the residence, Troopers and Officers set up surveillance of the building. Approximately five minutes later, they observed Pagan Sanchez running from the residence. MSP VFAS Trooper Jason Flannery, along with State Police-Middleborough Troopers Nathan Robitaille and D.J. Tucker and Massachusetts Parole Officer Brian McGaffigan caught up to Pagan Sanchez on Tremont Street and placed him under arrest as a fugitive from justice.

Troopers transported Pagan Sanchez to State Police-Middleboro for booking.

According to Bangor Daily News, Guerrero was walking with another man when two rental vehicles pulled up and the four men got out. Ortiz and Ramos allegedly drew pistols and started shooting at Guerrero, hitting him twice. Police believe that the shooting and robbery were drug related.

Pagan Sanchez is facing up to 30 years in prison and sentencing will take place at a later date.
