Bristol County K9 Officer helps stranded citizen
He didn’t want any recognition, but he is receiving some regardless.
According to the Bristol County Sheriff’s Office, Bristol County K9 Officer Joao Santos came to the rescue of a stranded motorist in adverse conditions. Santos got out of his vehicle in the pouring rain on Tuesday on I-195 in Dartmouth and helped a motorist change a flat tire. He didn’t write a report or tell his supervisor, he just went on with his business afterwards the Office said. That didn’t stop the local woman, however, from messaging the Sheriff’s Office to share the story and express gratitude for Officer Santos. “I just want to mention how incredibly awesome Officer Joao Santos is! I got a flat tire and was broken down on the side of 195 E by Faunce Corner on ramp in the pouring rain. He stopped to help me and changed out my flat for the spare. I can’t say thanks enough to such a wonderful soul! He’s a treasure and I hope the office appreciates what a gem of an employee he is. Thanks again Joao!!!!! You saved me.” She went on to call him “a hero in my eyes.”
When Santos was made aware of the stranded citizen’s message, he stated, “My pleasure; this is what I signed up for is to help people of Bristol County.”
