A Bristol County man who died after injuries sustained in a highway collision is being remembered.

According to State Police, on Thursday, at just after 9:45 p.m., a motor vehicle collision occurred on I-95 northbound in Groton, Connecticut. A white 2012 Subaru Impreza was traveling northbound on I-95 in the Town of Groton when it collided with the rear of a parked construction vehicle, a 2020 Sennebogen 728e.

The 2012 Subaru Impreza was traveling northbound on I-95 between exits 88 and 89 when it exited the roadway to the left. The Subaru entered the grass center median and collided with the rear of a 2020 Sennebogen 728e construction vehicle which was unoccupied and not in the roadway. The Subaru blocked I-95 northbound travel lanes after the collision and the operator identified as 37-year-old Paul Robert Bigos of Taunton was entrapped in the vehicle.

As a result of the collision, Bigos was transported to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in the Town of New London where he was pronounced deceased for injuries sustained in the collision. There were no other occupants, operators or construction personnel in the area.

According to an obituary, Bigos owned a landscaping company, Just Call Paul LLC, where he had passion for his work and even more for his family. “Paul was known for his love of fishing, his easygoing nature, and his unwavering commitment to being a good dad. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family and was always ready to lend a hand to those in need.” Those who knew him will miss his kind heart and infectious personality.

A memorial service will be held at Holy Name Parish, 535 W. Roxbury Parkway, Roxbury, MA, on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 12:00 PM.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information regarding the collision is asked to contact Trooper Timothy Wengloski #1032 at 860-848-6500.
