Bridgewater multi-vehicle head-on crash sends 4 people to the hospital
BRIDGEWATER — Police Chief Christopher D. Delmonte and Acting Fire Chief John Schlatz report that the Bridgewater Police and Fire Departments responded to a motor vehicle crash that occurred on Wednesday morning.
At approximately 8:05 a.m., Bridgewater Police and Fire received several 911 calls reporting a two-car crash in the area of 370 Forest St.
Upon arrival, officers and firefighters/paramedics observed a red, older model Ford Ranger pickup truck and a white, Ford Econoline transport van that had collided. Both vehicles sustained significant damage and were blocking the roadway.
The driver of the Ford Ranger, the only occupant of the vehicle, was transported by a Bridgewater Fire ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation. The van’s driver and two passengers were also transported by Bridgewater Fire ambulances to a local hospital for evaluation.
An initial investigation indicates that the Ford Ranger crossed the marked traffic lanes, striking the transport van head-on.
The driver of the Ford Ranger, an 18-year-old Dighton man, was issued a citation for Failure to Keep Right of the Center Line.
Forest Street was closed due to the crash and subsequent investigation for a short time Wednesday morning. It was reopened by 9 a.m.
The crash remains under investigation by Bridgewater Police officers assigned to the Patrol Division.
