Boston police officer arrested on Intimidation of a Witness charge
A Boston Police officer has been arrested after an investigation.
According to Boston Police, on Sunday, Matthew Morrissey was arrested by officers from the Boston and Milton Police Departments and charged with Intimidation of a Witness and Harassment. Morrissey, who was recently placed on administrative leave, was the target of an internal investigation being conducted by the Boston Police Bureau of Professional Standards. During the course of the investigation, Morrissey intimidated and harassed a Boston Police officer conducting the investigation, according to police.
The Bureau of Professional Standards are investigating in conjunction with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
Superintendent-in-Chief Gregory Long stated “Conduct such as this will not be accepted or ignored by the Boston Police Department. Our Officers take an oath to uphold the law and will be held accountable to that very oath. This arrest serves as a clear reminder that the Boston Police Department holds its Officers to the highest standards.”
