Authorities release more details concerning Taunton crash that killed Fall River’s Margaret “Peggy” McGowan
Some details have been released concerning a crash that led to the death of a Fall River woman and beloved crossing guard on March 28th after being transported to Rhode Island Hospital.
According to Gregg Miliote of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, 67-year-old Margaret “Peggy” McGowan of Fall River was involved in a collision with another vehicle on Route 44 in Taunton on March 10th at approximately 9:15 p.m.
McGowan was driving a Honda CRV and had one female passenger in her vehicle. The female passenger was injured in the crash and was taken to Morton Hospital in Taunton for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The other vehicle involved in the crash was a Mercedes. Its driver was a 29-year-old Taunton man. He was also taken to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment.
While McGowan obtained a master’s degree and went on to be a Case Manager for the Department of Developmental Disabilities in Plymouth, Fall River residents remember Peggy most as a crossing guard in her post-retirement life where she was beloved by every person she came across which resulted in a community service award in 2022.
The investigation into the crash remains active and ongoing. No charges have currently been filed.
