Attleboro Fire Department rescues man from river
ATTLEBORO — Chief Scott Lachance reports that the Attleboro Fire Department assisted in locating and extracting a man from Ten Mile River earlier today.
At approximately 12:30 p.m., the Attleboro Police and Fire departments received a 911 call from a resident who had spotted a disoriented individual in the Ten Mile River. Crews responded to the scene and located a man, later identified as a 62-year-old from Attleboro, in the thick brush near the intersection of Water and West streets.
Attleboro Police Sgt. Steve Graney was the first to enter the water. He was followed quickly by Attleboro Fire Capt. John Buckley and Firefighter/Paramedic Daniel Kirk who assisted in extracting the man from the river.
The man was treated at the scene and transported by Attleboro Rescue to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.
“I want to commend those from the Attleboro Police and Fire departments who responded and helped this individual,” Chief Lachance said. “They worked quickly and efficiently to render assistance, despite the area of the brush making it difficult to extract the man.”
