As Brian Walshe faces murder charges, prosecution releases disturbing details of Ana Walshe’s death

Brian Walshe faced murder charges Wednesday as the prosecution released disturbing details concerning the death of Massachusetts mother of 3, Ana Walshe.

On Tuesday, Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey announced the issuance of a murder warrant for Brian Walshe in the death of Ana Walshe, 39, missing from Cohasset since on or about New Year’s Day.

In today’s court appearance, the prosecution stated that Walshe made a long list of internet searches including How long before a dead body starts to smell?, How long does DNA last?, Can you be charged with murder without a body?, and other searches concerning clean up and body dismemberment.

Prosecution also stated that Walshe was seen on surveillance dumping garbage bags, sometimes appeared to be heavy, into dumpsters. Investigators recovered towels, rags, slippers, tapes, gloves, boots, cleaning products, hacksaw, and Ana’s COVID-19 card. Ana and Brian’s DNA were found on some of the items. Some of the items also had blood on them. The prosecution stated that they believe Brian Walshe dismembered and disposed of Ana’s body.

Ana Walshe was reported to be last seen at her home in Cohasset the morning of New Year’s Day. Walshe reportedly left her home in the early morning hours to take a flight to Washington D.C. where she works and has a townhouse. Police say she never boarded the flight. Both Walshe’s employer and her husband reported her missing with her employer reporting first on that Wednesday.

During Walshe’s previous arraignment, prosecutors stated that Ana Walshe’s phone pinged on January 2nd, a day after she reportedly went missing. Police have also not found any evidence that a ride share was used by Ana Walshe.

The Commonwealth also stated that Brian Walshe was not truthful about where he went which is a condition of his release after admitting in April 2021 to taking art from a friend and falsely offering authentic Warhol paintings for sale on eBay and delivering fake paintings to the buyer. It is also reportedly on video surveillance that Brian Walshe went to Home Depot on January 2nd and purchased $450 of cleaning supplies including mops, buckets, and tape. Prosecutors revealed that the untruths hindered and delayed the investigation into the missing Walshe. A knife and blood were also found in the basement, according to prosecutors.

Laura Sylvan told WHDH that she purchased a Revere condo for $200,000 from Ana Walshe in a rushed deal paid in cash on December 29th. She stated that Ana wanted to move down to Washington, D.C.

According to NBC 4 Washington, friends Mike and Mandi Silva stated that “nothing was adding up”. In the last 6 months, Ana Walshe rushed to get rid of assets, including a car, and the apartment that were sold for cash. Ana kept promising them a ‘big surprise’ in the New Year.

Bob Ward of Boston 25 News is reporting that a German Shepherd owned by Brian and Ana is at Animal Control in Braintree and that a Massachusetts State Police Trooper, who is not working the Walshe case, is helping to care for the dog at night.

The New York Post posted a photo of a box of champagne with a note from Ana to Brian found at the Walshe home. “Wow! 2022…What a year! And yet, we are still here and together! Let’s make 2023 the best one yet! We are the authors of our lives…courage, love, perseverance, compassion, and joy. Love, Ana.”

A family friend told WBZ TV that he left the New Year’s Eve party at the Walshe home at approximately 1:30 a.m. Brian claimed Ana awoke him up a little after 6 a.m. saying she had a “work emergency” to attend to in Washington DC and left for the airport. It was also discovered that Brian Googled how to dispose of a body.

Ana’s mother in Serbia told Fox News Digital that Ana pleaded with her a week before she went missing to come visit her in Washington D.C. Missed calls were sent by Ana to her mother around midnight on December 31st and at 1:00 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Ana then tried calling her older sister and maid-of-honor which also went unanswered.

Those who know Ana Walshe have described her as a loving, genuine, hard-working, smart and considerate woman that had a magnetism about her.

Brian Walshe is held without bail until February.
