Arrest made in Somerset break-in, larceny, of Superhero Alex’s family

Somerset Police have arrested a man who was allegedly responsible for stealing from Superhero Alex’s family.

Garret Turner, age 36, of 58 Bishops Highway in Kingston, MA was arraigned in Fall River District Court on the charges of Breaking & Entering into a Motor Vehicle with Intent to commit a Felony, Larceny Over $1,200.00 and Conspiracy.

Somerset Police Detectives have identified Garret Turner as the suspect responsible for the January 27th break into the vehicle of Catherine Placido, mother of Alex Rogers who has cancer. Placido reported that her wallet containing various items, including approximately $700.00 worth of donated gift cards, credit cards, and $200.00 cash had been stolen from the vehicle. Following the break, at least two transactions were attempted using the victim’s stolen credit cards which resulted in a $300.00 total sum being charged to their account.

In the days and weeks following the break, an investigation led by Somerset Detective Donald Cormier ultimately developed probable cause to obtain search warrants for various banking documents which led to the identification Turner, who has an extensive criminal record for similar crimes throughout the area.

Somerset Police Chief Todd Costa, commended Detective Cormier on his investigation. “This arrest is extremely satisfying considering the circumstances surrounding the victim and her family. I appreciate Detective Cormier’s hard work to bring this case to a successful conclusion.”
