An arrest has been made in the incident that took place in Stoughton on May 24 that resulted in a shooting and a serious car crash at the intersection of Plain Street and West Street.

According to police, on Friday, Stoughton District Court issued a warrant for the arrest of 39-year-old Anh Kieu of Quincy.

Shortly before 4:00 p.m. today, the Quincy Police Department took Kieu into custody at his Quincy home without incident. He has since been transported back to Stoughton Police Headquarters and is being held on $20,000 cash bail. He is expected to be arraigned on Tuesday at Stoughton District Court.

On May 24, Kieu encountered a man at a 7/11 on Washington Street in Canton around 9:00 p.m. While in the store, one victim stated that Kieu pointed a gun at him. The victim ran to his friend’s car, a black Nissan Altima, and told the other 3 occupants in the vehicle what had happened. The driver of the Altima then left the parking lot. Kieu, who was driving a white Cadillac, followed the Altima. Fearing they were being chased, the driver of the Altima drove at a high rate of speed to get away from Kieu, creating a dangerous environment for everyone on the road around them. Eventually they made it to the intersection of Pearl Street and Central Street in Stoughton.

Witnesses say Kieu, crossed the double yellow line and into the opposite lane of traffic, pulled up to the Altima and pointed a revolver at the 4 occupants in the car. The driver of the Altima, who has a valid license to carry and a properly registered firearm, yelled for his friends to get down. Fearing for his life he fired 7 rounds into the Cadillac striking Kieu one time. The driver of the Altima fled the scene and Kieu continued to follow them. The operator of the Altima remained fearful as Kieu had already pointed a gun at him and he continued to pursue him. This ultimately led to the crash at the intersection of Plain Street and West Street.

Recovered from the Cadillac Kieu was driving was a black pellet gun, an SNR 357 revolver.

Kieu has been charged with 4 counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violations.

At this time police do not anticipate charges against the operator of the Altima.
