Alcohol and cocaine leads to arrest of Massachusetts man

Early this morning, at approximately 12:26 a.m., Trooper Alan Pena Mejia and his Field Training Officer, Trooper Matthew Kelley were on patrol in Boston, when they stopped a Toyota Sienna van for a motor vehicle violation.

The driver was identified as EDWIN LOYOLA-DELVALLE, 49, of Waltham. While speaking with LOYOLA-DELVALLE, the troopers observed a large amount of alcohol in the back of the van. Massachusetts General Law, only allows the transport 20 gallons of a malt beverage or 3 gallons of any alcoholic beverages at a time, without a permit or license for alcohol transportation.

As a result of an investigation, LOYOLA-DELVALLE was found to be in possession of 30.375 gallons of malt liquor and 8.7 gallons of alcoholic beverage, as well as a bag containing 0.6 grams of what is believed to be cocaine. The Investigation determined that the defendant intended to sell the alcohol.

LOYOLA-DELVALLE was placed under arrest and brought to the State Police Barracks in Milton for booking.

LOYOLA-DELVALLE was charged with the following:
1.            Possession of a Class B Drug (Cocaine)
2.            Unlawfully Transport Liquor
3.            Motor Vehicle Lights Violation

LOYOLA-DELVALLE is expected to be in Dorchester District Court tomorrow for arraignment.
