According to police, on Saturday, Smithfield Police charged 25-year-old Sergio Castaneda Ronderos of East Elmhurst, New York with Felony Larceny Over $1,500 dollars, Felony Conspiracy to Commit Larceny, and Malicious Damage.

These charges stem from an incident on November 1, 2023, in the parking lot of Dave’s Marketplace located at 371 Putnam Pike. In this incident, over a million dollars’ worth of jewelry was stolen. The investigation was conducted by Smithfield Police Detectives and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
