A popular Portuguese restaurant in Westport is under new ownership, but don’t expect big changes
A popular Westport restaurant is now under new ownership, but don’t expect much of a change.
Olivia & Mark Stone penned a goodbye letter thanking the years of patronage at Portas Da Cidade Restaurant and Lounge on Route 6 in Westport.
“The Time has come for us to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation for all the friendships that were created with all our customers and workers who are now considered our family. ”
“My husband and I started this journey over 23 years ago with Oasis Tents and have decided to conclude with Portas Da Cidade. All of this was in addition to the 30 plus years that we were in our medical and law enforcement professions respectfully. A sincere thank you to all the partners in the beginning, the customers who have always been extremely loyal and our hard-working staff throughout the years who have made all this possible.”
“The commitment, love and sometimes unfavorable ways throughout the years truly made us better people realizing that any of our success would never have happened without you.”
Cameron Olivier and Steven Lourenco, who both have worked at Portas for over 20 years combined, will now take over with the Stone’s helping occasionally if needed.
The Stone’s say that the only change you should notice is more energetic ownership as all of the staff will remain the same including the kitchen team led by Chef Ruben assisted by Chef Santana.
Portas is known for its top-notch Portuguese cuisine and atmosphere. You have to make reservations early in the week for a table on the weekend. The new owners also have a reputation for being nice and polite men who are on the ball.
Saturday was the restaurant’s last day open before closing for their yearly vacation. Portas will open back up on Wednesday July 19 with the new ownership.
