Severe thunderstorms wreak havoc across southern New England including lightning striking home in Bristol County

While Fall River may have been spared from yesterday’s severe thunderstorms, many communities in southern New England were not.

One of the communities impacted was Seekonk in Bristol County.

According to the Seekonk Fire Department, crews battled a house fire on Massasoit Drive.

The homeowner reported a lightning strike, followed by smoke filling the home. Seekonk crews made an aggressive fire attack, stopping the fire from spreading from the area of origin in the attached garage.

Quick work and the aggressive attack allowed the residents to re-occupy the home after the fire was extinguished.

In addition to Seekonk, there were severe storms and a plethora of lightning strikes across Rhode Island and Plymouth County.
