Fall River Fire Department releases preliminary cause of fire that burned female and juvenile

Sprinklers and the Fall River Fire Department made quick work of flames that caused injures to two people.
According to Captain Eric Caffrey, at approximately 9:15 p.m., the Fall River Fire Department responded to a reported building fire at 5B Pleasant View.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the flames had been held in check by two activated sprinkler heads in the apartment. Crews swiftly extinguished the fire and conducted a thorough check for any fire extension.
Two victims—a female and a minor—sustained burn injuries and were transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation; however, preliminary findings suggest it was an accident caused while blowing out a candle.
The Fall River Fire Department reminds residents to exercise caution when using open flames and to ensure that smoke alarms and sprinkler systems are operational.
