Avon firefighter, paramedic, Massachusetts Army National Guardsman suffers active-duty death
A Massachusetts fire department is mourning the loss of one of their own.
The Avon Fire Department announced Thursday the active-duty death of Firefighter and Paramedic Justin Powers. Firefighter Powers passed away unexpectedly on December 24th, 2024.
Firefighter Powers joined the Avon Fire Department in August 2020 as a firefighter and emergency medical technician. Justin’s career in EMS started in 2012, he went on to become a paramedic and graduated from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy with Class BW09. Firefighter Powers also worked for Boston Medflight and served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard since 2014.
Arrangements have not yet been announced, and a cause of death was not released.
