Multiple people transported to the hospital after knife broken during stabbing in Fall River home
A Fall River man is facing charges after a stabbing that took place at a home on Monday.
According to Lieutenant Matthew Mendes, at just after 6:00 p.m., officers responded to 1000 block of Meridian Street for a domestic violence call, which involved a stabbing.
While on his way home, Deputy Chief Hoar overheard the call and chose to respond.
Upon his arrival, he found a male with a severe laceration to his forearm. As he attempted to render aid, he became combative. Officers Jimmie Page, Walter Siberon, Anyeric Castillo, and Joe Bailey arrived shortly thereafter and assisted in subduing the male. It was later determined that the male suspect was experiencing mental health issues. He had stabbed someone in the home before inflicting a severe laceration on his own arm in an apparent suicide attempt.
The suspect was taken into custody and transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. A family member was also treated at St. Luke’s Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
According to scanner transmissions, the knife was broken in the incident.
Both the Major Case Bureau and Identification Division responded to assist with the investigation.
