City of Fall River announces, assistance, shelter, warming center, due to upcoming frigid temperatures
(FALL RIVER, MA- December 20, 2024) – Due to frigid temperatures forecast in the City of Fall River on Sunday, December 22nd, the First Baptist Church, located at 228 North Main Street (use Pine Street Entrance), will open at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday through 8:00 a.m. Monday morning. An all-night prayer service as well as an early meal will be provided for city residents.
On Monday, December 23, 2024, Christ the Rock Church, 414 Walnut Street (use lower Walnut Street entrance) will be available as a warming center from 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. Residents may drop in without calling.
Anyone in need of assistance is urged to call the 24-hour homeless hotline number for shelter needs at 508-676-3528. Street outreach workers from the City of Fall River will be on hand to assist with transportation needs if needed.
The First Step Inn, 134 Durfee Street, will be offering shelter services as well as the Timao Center, at the Spindle City Church 371 Bay Street (use Middle Street entrance). For shelter services at these locations call 508-679-8001.
