Westport Police arrest 32-year-old man after reportedly driving the wrong way on Route 6
A local man faced a judge after allegedly driving the wrong way on an area highway.
According to Deputy Robert Rebello, on Friday, an operator was located by police driving the wrong way on Route 6 in Westport.
Upon interaction with the police, it was determined that 32-year-old Luis Mejias was operating under the influence of alcohol and subsequently arrested and charged with OUI Liquor, Wrong Way on a State Highway and Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
At Monday’s arraignment, Mejias pled not guilty and was released on personal recognizance.
His next court appearance is a pretrial hearing scheduled for February.
