Florence to become hurricane, advising east coast to review plan
According to the National Weather Service, a major hurricane is expected to hit the U.S. coast.
Tropical Storm Florence has become better organized and is expected to strengthen to a hurricane tonight.
Florence is forecast to be a dangerous hurricane near the southeast coast by late next week, and the risk of direct impacts continues to increase with each passing day. The NWS confirms, however, it is too soon to determine the exact timing, location, and magnitude of the impact.
Some experts predict that Florence could be a 4/5 category hurricane when it reaches peak strength.
The east coast of the United States is recommended to keep up to date on the progress of Florence. Especially from north Florida to North Carolina.
On the forecast track, the center of Florence will move over the southwestern Atlantic Ocean between Bermuda and the Bahamas Tuesday and Wednesday, and approach the southeastern U.S. coast on Thursday.
Large swells are expected to affect portions of the U.S. East Coast this weekend, resulting in life-threatening surf and rip currents.
