Lakeville head-on highway crash sends injured to New Bedford and Brockton hospitals
Two pickup trucks collided head on Sunday morning in Lakeville.
According to the Lakeville Fire Department, the crash at the intersection of Bedford (Route 18) and Taunton Streets occurred at approximately 8:45 am this morning.
At the time of the crash, crews were committed to a medical emergency. A recall was transmitted sending additional responders back to work.
Ambulance 1, Engine 1, Car 2, and Car 1 responded to the scene.
The drivers of both vehicles were injured, requiring an additional ambulance from Middleborough to respond.
Two adult males were transported to the hospital. One patient is believed to have minor injuries and was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital. The other patient’s injuries were more significant but did not appear to be life threatening; that patient was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital.
Also, at just after 8:00 p.m. Saturday night, Lakeville Firefighters responded to a Lincoln Street home for unlawful burning of yard waste.
The resident was found to be burning leaves. The person was uncooperative and refused to extinguish the fire. Firefighters pulled a hand line and extinguished the fire.
The person will be receiving a citation and will be issued a fine from the Fire Chief.
