Fall River man found guilty in Superior Court for actions in shooting that injured another man
A Fall River man has been convicted concerning a city shooting that injured another man.
According to Fall River Police, on Friday, 30-year-old Mahamadou Kante III was found guilty in Fall River Superior Court for his actions stemming from a shooting that occurred on September 18, 2023, in the area of Choate Street.
According to Detective Sergeant Moses Pereira, at approximately 6:15 p.m., the Department received a report that a male had sustained a gunshot wound in the area of Choate Street.
The male victim contacted police and stated that he had been shot and was in route to a local hospital for medical assistance.
The victim, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, told investigators that he had been shot in the hip by an individual known to him.
The collaborative efforts of the Patrol Bureau and Major Case Division resulted in a case that was prosecuted by the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
Kante III was convicted of Assault and Battery by Discharge of a Firearm, Carrying a Firearm without a License, and Carrying a Loaded Firearm.
He will be sentenced at a later date.
Kante III faces an additional charge of Carrying a Firearm without a License (Subsequent Offense) which is pending in a separate trial on Monday.
