The detailed real estate listing is as follows:
Have you ever dreamed of owning your own historic lighthouse? Have you been patiently waiting and hoping for the perfect lighthouse opportunity to fall in to your lap? Well here’s that chance!
Situated on beautiful Mount Hope Bay, only 1500 ft. from the historic shores of Fall River, Massachusetts, is one of the world’s only offshore “sparkplug” style Lighthouses that has been completely restored to all her glory, fully furnished and currently serving as a one-of-a-kind “Lighthome” private residence.
Borden Flats Light, circa 1881, was purchased privately from the US Government in 2010. Her re-birth began after her new “Light Keeper” dedicated 7 years completely restoring this historic gem, and opened up to the public as a truly, one-of-a-kind overnight accommodation for lighthouse lovers from around the world.
Her current owners have continued maintaining her and its overnight program with tremendous success… completely selling out 7 nights per week, for the past 6 years. Begrudgingly, her caring owners are looking to retire, therefore opening up this most rare opportunity for the next passionate Lighthouse Lover to “take over the helm” and garner their place in maritime history.
Whether it’s a purchase as your new private getaway, or most preferably, to continue her successful legacy as a turn-key overnight destination, this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime chance to own your very own 142 year old historic Lighthouse!
Borden Flats Light majestically stands 5 stories tall, permanently secured (NOT FLOATING!) upon a reef or “flats” in beautiful Mount Hope Bay at the mouth of the Taunton River, offering phenomenal 360-degree views. Each level is wonderfully restored and furnished with various antiques, period furniture and a restored 1910 Victrola record player.
Thankfully “off the grid,” electricity is supplied by solar, complete with battery backup and a Generac 8kw whole house generator. No electricity bills! Cooking and heating are by propane and cell phone service is wonderfully robust. There are 3 different outdoor decks in which to lay back, relax or entertain, watching the calming waves, incredible sunrises and sunsets and pleasure boats sailing by.
Her first floor has an entrance foyer, kitchenette with 4-burner gas stove/oven, dining area and 1/2. (no shower)
The second floor once served as the sleeping quarters for the brave Light Keepers and now serves as your living room, perfect for sitting quietly with a good book, or enjoying the beautiful music via the 1910 Victrola. (78 rpm records included)
The 3rd level boasts another living area complete with large screen smart tv/dvd. No more cable-tv bills!
The 4th floor, once used as the “watchroom” where the Keepers worked, is now our queen-sized bedroom with a stairway leading up to the Lantern/Light Room on the 5th level. An outdoor deck encircles the Lantern Room offering the most amazing views from 5 storiest above the bay. The interior living space totals approx. 900 sq. feet and the 3 outdoor decks offer another 2,000 sq. feet!
As you’ll see in our photos and video, this unique “Lighthome” is quaint and cozy, and is one of the most unique, historic pieces of maritime real estate on the market anywhere.
Lest we forget, it includes a fully turn-key, incredibly successful and lucrative overnight business, already sold out for 2023 and 2024! You will not find a gem like this for sale anywhere in the world right now and with the many lighthouse enthusiasts scouring the market for B&B business these days, she should be a quick sale.
The asking price for this historic and world renown lighthouse is listed at only $1,250,000. This will be a totally private sale and due to the incredibly high demand for lighthouses right now, especially one already fully restored and furnished, including its own 22ft. deck boat, this splendid example of original, historic sparkplug style lighthouses will not last!
