79-year-old trapped, 80-year-old injured, after crash in Tiverton knocks out power
Local crews responded to a weekend crash with injuries.
According to Captain Michael Miguel, on Sunday just before 6:45 p.m., Tiverton Police and Fire received a 911 call about a motor vehicle accident in the area of 3034 Main Road.
Upon arrival, officers found that a 2004 Buick Sable had left the roadway and struck a telephone pole.
The 80-year-old male operator of the vehicle was able to be removed, but a 79-year-old female passenger was trapped inside. Emergency personnel from the Tiverton Fire Department were able to extract the female passenger from the vehicle.
The male operator was transported to Rhode Island Hospital. There is no update on the operator’s condition.
The crash, which is under investigation, knocked out power in the area.
