Middleborough, Carver, Lakeville, Raynham, Rochester, Wareham break-in investigation leads to arrest of homeless man
MIDDLEBOROUGH — Deputy Police Chief Robert Ferreira reports that a homeless man was charged with breaking into a business early Sunday morning following an extensive, multi-jurisdictional investigation.
At just after 2:15 a.m., Middleborough Police and investigators from the Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Detectives, who were conducting surveillance as part of a multi-jurisdictional investigation, heard someone breaking into South Middleboro Pizza & Grill on Wareham Street.
Detectives heard the noise of either a door or window being pried open and, several minutes later, saw a person dressed in all black run from the business. When they went to the business, detectives located a damaged window screen, an open window and open cash registers.
Detectives followed the vehicle from the business and stopped it at a local gas station. The driver was identified as 40-year-old Craig Jolin, who had allegedly removed clothing he was seen wearing while fleeing from the business. During a vehicle search, detectives allegedly located loose cash on the floor, a sweatshirt and a mask.
Jolin was arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime for a Felony.
SEMLEC Detectives have been investigating nighttime break-ins in six communities — Middleborough, Carver, Lakeville, Raynham, Rochester and Wareham. At the conclusion of the investigation, additional charges are expected.
