A Fall River teen has been held without bail in superior court after a shooting in Fall River.

18-year-old Roney Morales was arraigned Thursday after being indicted late last week and pled not guilty to 3 counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, 3 counts of Assault & Battery with a Firearm, Carrying a Firearm Without a License to Carry, and Carrying a Loaded Firearm in Public Without a License to Carry.

Morales was held pending a decision on today’s dangerousness hearing.

According to Det. Sergeant Moses Pereira, at 7:00 p.m. on June 27th, the Fall River Police Department received several calls reporting that a shooting had occurred in the area of Tremont Street and Pine Street. Initial reports indicated that the suspects involved in the shooting had fled the scene in a green SUV.

Responding officers located 4 spent shell casings in the intersection at Pine Street and Tremont Street.

It was determined that no people or property sustained damage as a result of the incident.

Video surveillance obtained from the area assisted investigators in identifying the suspect vehicle as well as the individuals involved in the incident. Having seen the vehicle earlier in their shift, the Vice Intelligence and Gang Unit was able to identify the vehicle involved in the shooting.

Perreira stated that a collaborative effort between the Uniform Division, Major Crimes Division, Special Operations Division, Gun Violence Task Force, and the Vice Intelligence and Gang Unit resulted in not only locating the vehicle suspected in the incident, but the occupants of that vehicle, including Morales, were also located at an address they are known to frequent.

Also arrested in the incident was 18-year-old Jayvon Murchison who was charged as an Accessory After the Fact.

Morales next scheduled court appearance is a pre-trial conference on October 22nd.
