82-year-old former School Committee member dies from injuries sustained in Stoughton pedestrian collision
STOUGHTON — An 82-year-old Stoughton man has died from injuries sustained in a pedestrian collision.
According to police, on Thursday, at approximately 6:15 p.m., the Stoughton Police Department responded to Central Street, between Turnpike and Lincoln streets, after a report of a car striking a pedestrian.
The driver, a Brockton man, stayed on scene and is cooperating with police.
The pedestrian, Joaquin “Joe” Soares, a former Stoughton School Committee member, was taken by ambulance to a Boston hospital. He died Saturday morning from his injuries.
Police closed Central Street between Turnpike and Lincoln streets.
The crash is under investigation by the Stoughton Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
