Bristol County District Attorney’s Office releases name of 23-year-old woman who drowned in pond
A 23-year-old Taunton woman died as a result of a drowning in Bunk Pond on the Raynham/Taunton town line Saturday afternoon.
According to Gregg Miliote of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, on Saturday at approximately 4:30 p.m., Taunton Police and Fire were called to the pond for a report of a possible drowning.
After speaking with friends of the victim, the Raynham Police and Fire Departments, the North Bristol County Dive Team, the Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Dive Team, Massachusetts State Police. Massachusetts Department of Fire Services, and the Massachusetts Environmental Police all assisted with the search for the victim.
The body of Elfreda Nenen Yovonie was eventually recovered shortly before 7:00 p.m. Saturday night by members of the North Bristol County and SEMLEC Dive Teams.
Miliote stated that at this time, the drowning is not believed to be suspicious.
Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office will conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
