A Massachusetts man has died in a weekend motorcycle crash.

According to police, on Sunday, at just after 7:45 p.m., the Holliston Police Department evening shift responded to Prentice and Mill Streets, a known dangerous intersection, for a motor vehicle crash involving serious injuries. The crash involved a motor vehicle versus a motorcycle.

The first officers on scene attended to the 62-year-old motorcycle operator in the roadway with multiple injuries. The operator of the motorcycle was identified as Andrew Palumbo of Ashland. He was treated at the scene by Holliston Police and Fire personnel and transported by medical helicopter to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. Upon admittance to the Emergency Room, Palumbo succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the involved motor vehicle was a 72-year-old man from Holliston and was uninjured. Police stated that he has been fully cooperative with the department as the investigation continues.

Palumbo was the former owner and chef of New York New York Deli in Westborough. Family members are understandably heartbroken at the sudden loss of a good man. Services have not yet been announced.

Troopers assigned to the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services were requested, responded, and are assisting with the crash investigation.

The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office has been contacted and an Assistant District Attorney has been assigned to this incident.
