Police warning public of recent scam targeting Massachusetts residents; here is what you need to know
Police want to advise the public of a recent scam targeting Massachusetts residents.
According to Norwood Police, in this scam, Massachusetts drivers have been targeted by receiving text messages that they owe money for unpaid tolls. These messages are a type of phishing scam that uses SMS messages to claim to be from EZDriveMA. The messages typically ask for a payment and provide a link to pay to avoid late fees as seen in the photo below.
Anyone receiving these texts should not click on the link.
– EZDriveMA will NEVER request payment via text message.
– All links associated with EZDriveMA will include www.EZDriveMA.com
The FBI recommends individuals that receive the fraudulent messages do the following:
1 File a complaint with the IC3, www.ic3.gov (https://www.ic3.gov/), be sure to include:
a The phone number from where the text originated.
b The website listed within the text.
2 Check your account using the toll service’s legitimate website.
3 Contact the toll service’s customer service phone number at (877) 627-7745.
4 Delete any smishing texts received.
5 If you clicked any link or provided your information, take efforts to secure your personal information and financial accounts. Dispute any unfamiliar charges.

I got message, I gave them info, just got hacked, had to cancel debit card, called bank, have to change on all accts, filing fraud, have to wait couple weeks, blah, blah, pain in neck

DAMN!!! Pretty 🤬 sad how many ways thieves get hold of people’s PRIVATE, PERSONAL, FINANCIAL INFO. in order to “STEAL” from them,ya know,as opposed to “GETTING 💯 REAL, LEGIT JOB” to HONESTLY EARN “THEIR OWN CASH!!!” In my opinion, it’s PLAINLY AND SIMPLY “DISGUSTING” and that’s the HONEST TO GOD TRUTH!!!!!!!

My husband and I got one stating past due dollars, when we try to pay it. It continued to generate new past-due dollar amounts. Glad to see this report.
