Brockton man indicted in murder of brother; two others also indicted in connection to fatal shooting
BROCKTON – A grand jury has indicted three men in connection with a March shooting in Brockton that left one man dead, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz has announced.
Tuesday, a Plymouth County grand jury returned indictments charging 20-year-old Jeremiah Abreu with one count each of Murder, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, and Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm Within 500 feet of a Building. He is currently being held without bail.
On March 31, 2024, at just after 2:15 a.m., Brockton Police received a 911 call for a report of a shooting inside a home at 36 Hoover Avenue. Police and emergency medical personnel responded, and located a man who was shot in the chest. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was pronounced deceased from his injuries. He was identified as 27-year-old Sederick Abreu. Jeremiah Abreu is the brother of Sederick Abreu.
Members of Plymouth County SPDU, Brockton Police, State Police Crime Scene Services Section, State Police Ballistics, and State Police Crime Lab executed a search warrant at 36 Hoover Avenue. Several items of evidentiary value were secured as evidence.
The Massachusetts State Police sought and obtained an arrest warrant for Jeremiah Abreu, and he was arrested in Maine.
Additionally, two other men, 24-year-old Sirick Amado and 26-year-old Antonio Dejesus, were indicted Tuesday related to this murder.
Sirick Amado was indicted on one count of Accessory Before the Fact to Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, and Misleading a Police Officer or Investigator. Sirick Amado is currently held on $20k bail.
Antonio DeJesus was indicted on one count of Accessory After the Fact to Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. without an FID card, and Misleading a Police Officer or Investigator. Antonio DeJesus posted bail in the amount of $50k.
The three will be arraigned on the indictments in Brockton Superior Court at a later date.
Assistant District Attorneys Jeremy Beth Kusmin and James Duffy are prosecuting the case.
