Massachusetts man accused of stabbing spree held without bail, sent for further mental health evaluation

PLYMOUTH – A man who allegedly stabbed two people at a Plymouth rest area restaurant has been sent Massachusetts man accused of stabbing spree held without bail, sent for further mental health evaluation, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz has announced. 

Today, in Plymouth District Court, 26-year-old Jared Ravizza was arraigned on one count of Armed Assault to Murder, two counts of Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, and one count of Indecent Exposure.

Ravizza’s attorney moved for him to be evaluated for competency and criminal responsibility. He was interviewed by a court clinician who recommended Ravizza be further evaluated over the next 20 days at Bridgewater State Hospital, and the court agreed. Ravizza is being held without bail while at Bridgewater.

On Saturday night, at just before 7:00 p.m., police received several 911 calls for reports of the stabbing of two employees at the McDonald’s restaurant, located in the Route 3 rest area in Plymouth, and that the suspect had fled the scene. Upon arrival, emergency medical personnel located a 21-year-old female victim with a knife laceration, and she was transported to South Shore Hospital. A second male victim, aged 28, was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess- Plymouth Hospital for a laceration from a knife. Investigators reviewed surveillance video from the McDonald’s restaurant that appears to show Ravizza allegedly reach through the drive-thru window and stab the male victim with a large knife. Video then shows Ravizza leave the drive-thru in a black Porsche, park the car, go inside the McDonald’s, and stab the second female victim. Ravizza then fled the rest area in his motor vehicle.

A witness at the McDonald’s reported the motor vehicle plate registration to Massachusetts State Police, and it was determined that the black 2018 Porsche Macan was registered to Ravizza. Police also learned that a BOLO had issued for Ravizza’s arrests for other incidents. 

Also on Saturday, at approximately 7:15 p.m., Ravizza, of Chilmark and Agawam, was arrested and taken into custody in Sandwich. He was treated at South Shore Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries after a crash. 

Today, Braintree Police announced that they received an arrest warrant for Ravizza out of Quincy District Court for four counts of Assault to Murder and four counts of Assault and Battery with Dangerous Weapon. The charges are related to the Saturday attack on four juvenile females at the AMC movie theater on Grandview Avenue in Braintree. Ravizza allegedly proceeded past the ticket counter and entered one of the theaters without paying. Inside of that theater, he encountered four young females. Without saying anything and without any warning, he suddenly attacked and stabbed the four young females. The attack appeared to be unprovoked, and witnesses state the suspect was laughing during the incident.

Police stated that each victim is improving and healing.

Ravizza is also a possible suspect in a death in Connecticut.

At approximately 3:36 p.m. on Saturday, Connecticut State Police Troop F – Westbrook responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence located on Merriwold Lane in Deep River, Connecticut. The investigating Trooper learned that a suspect approached the residence on Merriwold Lane, threw a shovel through the front door windowpane and then left. The complainants identified the suspect as someone they had recognized who was staying nearby on Maritone Lane. It was further reported to Troopers that prior to this incident, an audible disturbance was heard at the Maritone Lane address.

This information led the Investigating Trooper to 15 Maritone Lane, where he discovered an adult male with visible injuries, outdoors, at the residential property located at 15 Maritone Lane. The injured male was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.

 The decedent was later transferred to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further examination. The decedent was positively identified as 70-year-old Bruce Feldman of West Hartford, CT.

During the initial investigation, Troopers developed information indicating that a second individual, who was no longer at the scene, had been present at 15 Maritone Lane earlier in the day. The second individual was identified as Ravizza. Personal items belonging to Ravizza were located at the scene and witnesses provided a description consistent with that of Ravizza.

According to the Boston Globe, Ravizza was arrested last month on Martha’s Vineyard after he allegedly attacked his father. Ravizza’s father stated that his son “had just had a mental break and attacked him” inside his home. Ravizza was sent to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital for a mental health evaluation but did not meet their criteria to be held.

Many reports across social media say that Ravizza is a former pro skier and is a transgender activist involved in an international digital marketing agency, however, the information has not been confirmed by authorities nor has a motive.

Ravizza is scheduled to appear in Plymouth County court on June 17. 

Ravizza will be arraigned in Quincy District Court at a later time.

Today’s hearing was handled by Assistant District Attorney David Cutshall. The investigation remains active and ongoing by Massachusetts State Police.
