Two charged after Massachusetts Starbucks vandalized, officer assaulted, hospitalized, has coffee thrown at him

Two are accused of assaulting an officer and causing damage to property at a Massachusetts coffee shop.

According to police, on Thursday, at just before 10:00 a.m., an officer on a paid detail apprehended Amari Robinson, 30, of Roxbury, and April Payne, 52, of Dorchester, on charges of Malicious Destruction of Property and Assault and Battery on a Police Officer.

The incident unfolded at Starbucks on 36 District Ave, where the officer witnessed the suspects exhibiting aggressive behavior towards store staff and vandalizing store property. When the officer intervened, the suspects turned their aggression towards him, assaulting him and striking him multiple times. Robinson further escalated the situation by throwing a cup of coffee at the officer’s face. Additional units rushed to the scene, and the suspects were promptly taken into custody. The injured officer received medical attention from EMS and was subsequently transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

Both suspects were formally charged with Malicious Destruction of Property and Assault and Battery on a Police Officer. Additionally, Robinson faces an additional charge of Larceny from a building for stealing cash from a tip jar. Both individuals are scheduled to appear for arraignment at South Boston District Court.
