Rhode Island man accused of sexual assault at house party
COVENTRY, RI – A Rhode Island man is facing disturbing allegations.
According to police, during the month of July 2023, the Coventry Police Department took a complaint from a victim that they were sexually assaulted by a male suspect at a house party in Coventry. After a thorough investigation by the Coventry Police Department’s Special Victims Unit, an arrest warrant was prepared and signed by a District Court Judge.
On January 31st, 2024, Coventry Police Detectives arrested 46-year-old Saheed Lawanson at his home in Coventry, and subsequently transported him to the Coventry Police Station for processing.
On February 1st, 2024, Lawanson was brought before a 3rd District Court Judge and arraigned on the charge of 1st Degree Sexual Assault. Lawanson’s bail was ultimately set at $50,000 with surety.
