Fall River high school student headed to California after winning T-Shirt Design Competition
A Fall River student will be headed across the country to represent the city after winning a design contest.
According to Fall River Public Schools, Junior Anibal Furtado has emerged as the winner of the 2024 Massachusetts DECA T-Shirt Design Competition, showcasing his exceptional talent and creativity for the “Shoot for the Stars” theme this year.
Anibal’s winning design will be printed and worn by over 3,000 students, along with their advisors/chaperones, at the Massachusetts State Career Development Conference at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston from March 7th through March 9th. Anibal will be recognized at the opening ceremony and will be presented with a well-deserved trophy in acknowledgment of his success in the competition.

FRPS states that in addition to the state recognition, Anibal’s t-shirt design has earned him a spot to attend the International Career Development Conference, taking place from April 26, until May 2, in Anaheim, California.
Ariel St. Germaine, Marketing Teacher at Durfee says, “We believe that his commitment to design exemplifies the spirit of creativity and excellence that we strive for at Durfee High School.”
