Christopher’s Festive “Cocoa and Cake Night” and Christmas Toy Drive a major success in Fall River

It started off as a random one night event and has now turned into a weekly tradition that Christopher’s is thinking about making permanent.

The bakery located down the south end of Fall River at 1816 S.Main Street extended their regular hours for a “Cocoa and Cake Night” from 5 – 8 PM yesterday. Despite the event happening on a Monday and the busy holiday season underway, many people carved out time to relax in the cozy atmosphere of the bakery and enjoy great desserts and conversation.

“We had a line out the door right at 5 PM,” said owner Christopher Silvia.

With a wide array of desserts from cannolis, tarts, cookies and cakes, there was truly something for everyone last night at Christopher’s. With candles lit on the tables, the warm glow of Christmas lights and soft music playing, you couldn’t help but feel the Christmas spirit in the small shop where everything is made from scratch.

“We have had many people ask to keep it going and it’s been so busy, we are definitely thinking about it,” Silvia stated when asked about having the event again in the future.

Having been open for less than a year, the corner shop has made a name for itself in Fall River, often by finding ways to give back to the neighborhood or community that has welcomed them. Their Christmas toy drive has been a major success, with customers even having packages delivered to the bakery from Amazon. They made their first toy donation to the Fall River Fire Department and in the second phase of the toy drive made a donation to the Fall River Police Department. They are now partnering with the Torres family at Empire Ford (292 William S Canning Blvd, Fall River) and filling trucks in the showroom with toys from their generous customers.

“We’re on to fill our fifth truck as of today,” said Silvia. “It’s amazing.”

Those who would like to make a donation are welcome to stop by the cafe during their normal business hours Monday – Saturday from 8 AM to 3 PM. You can also check their Facebook for events and daily specials.
