Police calling on community concerning mysterious disappearance of Freetown man
Freetown Police are reaching out again to the public concerning a missing man on a somber anniversary.
This week marks 8 years since Joaquim Prata, now 63 years old and originally from Cranston, RI, went missing, and the Freetown Police Department continues in their quest to bring him home.
On Sunday, October 4, 2015, Joaquim disappeared under mysterious circumstances, leaving behind his work vehicle, personal belongings, and a note that left his family and co-workers deeply concerned.
On that day, Freetown officers responded to Fernandes Masonry Company at 179 Braley Road in East Freetown. Inside Joaquim’s work truck, police located his wallet, ID, credit cards, cell phone, and a note that read, “Without love at home, life is hard, without luck, life is impossible, don’t come looking for me.”
Despite extensive efforts to locate him, Joaquim Prata remains missing to this day. Freetown PD are once again calling upon the community, emphasizing that every piece of information, no matter how small, remains vital in this ongoing case. Your tip could make a difference.
Contact Detective Shane Kelley at 508-763-4017 or skelley@freetownpolice.org with any information that might help bring Joaquim Prata home.
