26-year-old Westport dirt bike rider seriously injured after afternoon crash
A local man was seriously injured after a dirt bike crash that took place on Friday afternoon.
According to WMUR and New Hampshire Fish and Game, at approximately 3:15 p.m., a call came in for a single-vehicle trail bike crash in Jericho State Park in Berlin, New Hampshire.
A 26-year-old man from Westport, Massachusetts, was reportedly traveling in a group of four trail riders when he hit a rock in the trail which caused him to flip over the handlebars of the bike. He then landing hard on his upper body.
The man was taken to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation revealed that the rider failed to see the rock in the trail due to dusty conditions in addition to inattention to potential hazards.
Drugs or alcohol were not factors in the crash.
