Fall River Animal Control reports raccoon tested positive for rabies
Officials say a raccoon has tested positive for rabies in Fall River.
According to Fall River Animal Control, on Tuesday, a rabies positive raccoon was found at 505 President Ave. The raccoon tested positive for rabies through the Massachusetts State Public Health Laboratory.
If you or someone you know had direct contact with a raccoon at that location, please contact the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) at 617-983-6800 (available 24 hours).
People who were in the area but did NOT directly touch the animal are NOT at any risk.
If you have a pet that had direct contact with the raccoon, please contact the Rabies Quarantine Director at (617) 626-2201, or speak to your veterinarian.
