Massachusetts man pronounced dead while hiking in Utah park with family members
Officials say a Massachusetts man has died after hiking with family members out of state.
According to the Grand County Sheriff’s Office, on Friday afternoon, a 71-year-old man from Massachusetts was hiking in Arches National Park with his wife and son.
The man was seen collapsing to the ground and becoming unresponsive.
Emergency personnel responded from Classic Air Medical, National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, and Grand County. CPR was performed on the man, who was then pronounced deceased at the scene.
The deceased was transferred to the Utah Office of the Medical Examiner.
An investigation into the incident is being conducted by the National Park Service and Grand County.
The man’s name and community he resided in were not released.
