Massachusetts police officer placed on leave after fellow officers arrest him concerning motor vehicle crash with three motorcyclists
A Massachusetts Police officer has been placed on administrative leave after being arrested for operating under the influence of alcohol following a multi-vehicle crash early Monday morning.
According to Cambridge Police, Michael Daniliuk, 57, of Cambridge, was charged by officers with the Cambridge Police with operating under the influence of alcohol and failure to stop at a red light following a motor vehicle crash with three motorcyclists at the intersection of Broadway and Columbia Street.
Cambridge Police responded to a report of a multi-vehicle crash around midnight on Monday. Their investigation determined that the three motorcyclists were struck while they were stopped at a traffic light on Broadway. Two of the motorcyclists and Daniliuk were transported to local hospitals with no apparent major injuries.
Daniliuk was off-duty at the time of the crash. Per department policy, he has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the crash investigation.
Daniliuk is a Youth Resource Officer with the Cambridge Police Department, where he has worked for the past 24 years. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Cambridge District Court.
