Fall River’s Reis Meat Market issues statement after fire damages business
The owners of a Fall River market destroyed by fire have issued a statement.
According to a social media post, Reis Meat Market at 375 Alden Street will rebuild after a fire this week.
“As many of you already know and for those that don’t, on the evening of August 7th there was a fire here at Reis Meat Market. Thankfully no one was in the building at the time. Thankfully no one was hurt, but unfortunately the store suffered damage inside. We are currently closed as we begin to clean up and prepare to repair and rebuild. We just want to take a moment to first and foremost thank the Fall River Fire Department for their quick response and quick extinguishing of the fire. We also want to take a moment to thank everyone who has reached out with their thoughts, prayers and concern. It means a lot to us to know the community is thinking of us during this tough time. We will keep everyone updated. We will be back looking better than ever, but with same great products you have come to know and love soon!”
A call came in for flames inside the Market just after 10:15 p.m. on Sunday.
According to Fire Chief Roger St. Martin, the owner of the market was notified by an alarm company that there was a fire inside of the building.
FRFD arrived within minutes with District Chief Sean Flannery taking command of the fire scene. With several apparatus already assisting, Flannery called for an additional engine due to the size of the fire and its proximity to other buildings.
The fire was knocked down by 10:40 p.m. as firefighters chased hot spots and a fire in the ceiling.
The main body of the fire was in the middle of the building which caused extensive damage to the interior.
