Driver smashes into Massachusetts State Police cruiser after reportedly using cell phone
A Massachusetts State Trooper’s quick thinking avoided possible tragedy.
Today on Route 91 North in Deerfield a Trooper from B-Troop was working a street sweeping detail.
According to State Police Association of Massachusetts, the cruiser was strategically positioned to protect the workers and the operator of the street sweeper.
As the trooper stood watch outside of the cruiser, a driver crashed into the parked cruiser. Luckily no one was injured, and the driver was subsequently transported to the hospital.
SPAM acknowledged the Trooper’s quick thinking.
“Once again, we are reminded of the quick reaction our members must have in any circumstance, especially details and being on the road. Had our Trooper not been there to serve and protect, the operator of the vehicle could have very well hit the street sweeper or other drivers.”
At this time there are no details on charges against the operator, though multiple witnesses reported that the driver had been on a cell phone.
