Fall River Police make arrest after alleged armed robbery at dispensary, 2 armed standoffs with officers
A series of events, including an alleged robbery at a marijuana dispensary by a Fall River man who later became unresponsive and then nearly stabbed officers, led to an arrest.
According to Captain Barden Castro, on Monday, at approximately 3:00 p.m., officers responded to Nature’s Medicine, 482 Globe Street, due to a disturbance. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that a man outside of the business had asked 24-year-old Dillon Nobles, who was unknown to him, to purchase marijuana for him as he did not have his identification with him which is required to make a purchase at the business. It was reported that Nobles agreed, took money from the man, and entered the business. After some time, Nobles exited the business and informed the man that he would not be purchasing marijuana for him but would be keeping his money. Officers were told that during this exchange, Nobles brandished a knife and threatened the man while approaching him. The male victim reported that he was not harmed, but that Nobles fled the area.
While officers were on scene at Nature’s Medicine investigating the robbery complaint, other officers were dispatched to the SRTA bus terminal at 118 Fourth Street to assist with a possible medical emergency. Reports were that a man was on the bus and was being described as unresponsive. When officers arrived on scene, fire department paramedics were already on scene treating the yet unidentified male. The man was conscious, but uncooperative and appeared to need medical attention. Officers were able to coax the man off of the bus, however, upon realizing that he would need to be medically treated, he once again became uncooperative. While being escorted to a waiting stretcher, the man suddenly drew a knife from his pocket and slashed at a uniformed Fall River Police Officer, just missing him. The officer in fear of his safety and the safety of the nearby paramedics, drew his firearm while commanding the man to surrender.
Castro stated that the man refused to comply with the officer’s commands, but did cease his assault, and began to flee the area. The officers on scene at SRTA requested additional police units and began to chase after the man. As additional police officers responded to the area, they were able to track down the man. He began yelling at officers stating that they were going to have to kill him while he was still armed. He then reportedly threatened and attacked officers with the knife. He was eventually disarmed. Officers were then able to get ahold of the man after a struggle and place him under arrest.
Officers were eventually able to identify the man as Dillon Nobles, the same suspect in the robbery at the dispensary. Nobles was charged with Armed Robbery, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon 2 counts, Assault to Murder, and Resisting Arrest.
