Massachusetts sees 179 new cases with 28,829 new tests and 12 new deaths
Massachusetts saw a decrease in active cases and hospitalizations in Tuesday’s COVID-19 report.
Massachusetts saw 179 more positive cases announced today, an increase from Sunday’s report. No report was issued by DPH on Monday. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate increased slightly from 0.66% to 0.68%. The 0.66% was a record low.
Massachusetts had seen 146 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show an increase in total confirmed cases to 661,294 with 12 new deaths (12 confirmed, 0 probable) for a total of 17,883 (17,520 confirmed, 363 probable).
The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 22,963,891 after 28,829 new molecular tests.
The 7 day average of confirmed COVID-19 deaths decreased from 5.4 to 5.0. At the beginning of February, the average death rate was 70+.
Estimated active cases saw a decrease by 700+ to 5,918. In the last 41 days, active cases have decreased by over 28,300.
Hospitalizations have increased in 94 of the last 205 days, but saw a decrease of 11 to lower the total to 225. Hospitalizations have decreased in 34 of the last 41 days after a period of mainly increases. There were 2,428 in the Bay State on January 4th. Today’s total of 225 active hospitalizations was the lowest since September 26th.

Weekly COVID-19 Public Health Report
According to the May 27th report, Fall River has a 13.4 Average Daily COVID-19 Rate per 100,000 population (Last 14 days) (15.8 last week). New Bedford, who has the highest rate in Bristol County, saw a decrease to 15.9 (was 21.9). Westport saw a decrease to 3.4 (was 6.0), Swansea is at 8.1, a decrease, and was 14.3 last week. Somerset saw a decrease as they sit at 8.1 (was 12.7). Freetown stands at 6.3, a decrease from 7.9. Dartmouth is currently at 3.9, a decrease from last week’s 4.4. Acushnet decreased to 7.5 (was 19.1). Berkley is at 10.5 and was 9.4 last week.
1 Massachusetts community, the small town of Tisbury on Martha’s Vineyard, is in the red (high risk) which is down from 2 last week. 6 were in the red the week before.
Massachusetts Officials have issued a “vaccine doses administered and shipped” report updated on May 27th.
